Go For Broke - Open Your Mind (7")

Outlast, Refused, Abhinanda. Just some names of great hardcore bands which come from Sweden. Well lets add Go For Broke to that list.
This 7" has been out for a while, and the band has recently released a new record, but is still worth mentioning. 'Open Your Mind' is all what you expect from a Youth Crew band: melodic hardcore with some mosh parts, positive lyrics and a tight layout with live pictures.
So what sets Go For Broke apart from the rest? Firstly bands with these sound are few and far between at the moment. If you're into this style of music you're happy with almost any release there is.
However that doesn't mean Go For Broke are a mediocre band. No way! Songs like Out of Reach and Left Behind are great.
What really sets this band apart is their singer Kalle. He doesn't try to gnarl and growl like Ray Cappo or sing like Civ. His voice reminds me the most of that of Pat Fastbreak. In fact this could be the record Fastbreak made between their Don't Stop Trying 7" on Third Party and their 'Whenever You're Ready' full length. Go For Broke uses the same combination of gritty hardcore and melodies.
Bottom line: check it out, you won't be disappointed.
