Arms Aloft - Comfort At Any Cost 7"

I confess. Besides youth crew hardcore I'm a dead sucker for up tempo poppunk with gruffy vocals. Hot Water Music, Dillinger 4, Kid Dynamite you know the deal. Lately The Loved Ones have been rocking my world as well as Dutchband Tenement Kids.

All these bands are widely known to a large part of the punk and hardcore scene. A band that deserves to be in the same spotlight is Wisconsins' Arms Aloft. Since the debut of The Loved Ones I haven't been as excited by a band in this genre.

Arms Aloft has it all a: great singer, good tunes, sincere lyrics and the right amount of catchyness. Hell they're so good I'm surprised Side One Dummy or Fat Wreck hasn't picked up this band yet. Someone is sleeping!!!

Go and get this record from Deadformat. You won't be dissapointed!

Polar Bear Club - Sometimes Things Just Disappear

When Bridge 9 announced the addition of Polar Bear Club to their roster, I thought the label finally was going to cash in on the emo hype. Come on Polar Bear Club, what kind of bandname is that. Do you really think Youth Of Today or Minor Threat would have become huge if those bands were called Polar Bear Club? Then again Gorilla Biscuits might be in the same league.

Let's set the bandname aside and focus on the music. Well Polar Bear Club sure rock! They're no Fall Out Boy revisited but a gruffy sounding punkrock band in the best Hot Water Music tradition. Together with 'our' own The Tenement Kids these Americans make a new record by Gainesvilles' greatest completely superfluous.

Every punkrocker with a beard should check em out!
