This is one band you should all check it out. Think Dag Nasty, Rites of Spring meets The Jam and The Damned. Featuring exmembers of Downslide, No Turning Back and Malkovich Union Town is one of the rising stars in Europe. I interviewed them which you can read here. Check their songs over here.
On a sadder note Good Riddance is throwing in the towel, having been influenced by the band since 1996, seeing them at least twice on every European tour and knowing some members on a personal level this news hit me pretty hard. I'm checking out the rates to fly over for the final shows but damn't prices are heigh.
This is what I wrote here after their show in March 2006:

And I will be the last believer as long as I still care...
... And I still care!!!
It all started in '96. I went to see a band called Good Riddance. Blown Away! That was what I was, since then I've never missed them on their European tours, have interviewed singer Russ for my fanzine, became close friends with their merchdude Mario and played one show with them.
On their last tour I was afraid of them breaking up, they missed some energy. The passion seemed to have fade. Boy, was I wrong. I saw them last week in Belgium and it was just like in the old days. I'm really looking forward to their new record.

Man, i'm really bummed out about Good Riddance calling it quits. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. I doubt i'll be able to get to their last shows either. I don't have that kind of money floating around.
Yesterday I've played 'Ballads from the Revolution' and 'Operation Phoenix'.
they will be missed...
'Ballads from the Revolution' Is probably, overall my favorite Good Riddance record.
I saw Good Riddance 4 or 5 times. I loved them, but whenever I saw them in Boston, the crowd seemed to never "get" them. The crowd would have zero energy. I did see them in Providence, Rhode Island once with Sick of it All, and they got a great reaction...so much fun dancing during their set. I still haven't heard the newest album!
The last Good Riddance made the circle complete as it is a going back to the punkrock roots of the first two records. Russ is an awesome songwriter and I still think Only Crime isn't half as good as they could be.
